Chapter 38

"Ugh!" Nick sat on my stomach to wake me up. "Get off I can't breath!" He laughed as he stood up.

"It's 5:00 aren't you going to dinner with you parents tonight?" I got up quickly and ran to the bathroom, not saying anything. "Nick!" I yelled from the bathroom. "Wake Allie up!"

"She is already back at the hotel." He opened the door and slid the curtain to the side.

"You took her back? and shut that it's cold." I smiled.

"Yup." He slid it back close. "She got up at around 4 and said she wanted to go back to the hotel, and you fell asleep so I just took her."

"Oh, okay." I peeked my head out of the shower. "Thank you." He walked closer so I could give him a kiss.

"Now hurry up, I have to leave soon too." He smiled and walked out of the bathroom. I finished up and walked into the bedroom to blow dry and straighten my hair, I threw on some skinny jeans, my Uggs, a turtle neck and a vest.I met Nick in the hall way and gave him a hug.

"I'm sorry I can't come to your game tonight." I took a deep breath in, smothering my face in his chest. He always smelled so good.

"It's okay." He laughed. "I wish I could go to dinner with you guys, you look so nice."

"Thanks, I don't dress up much but I thought tonight I should."

"Yeah, I like it." He kissed me. "At least you aren't wearing my clothes." I walked passed him and turned my head around to look at him.

"You know, you can borrow my clothes too."

"Yeah." He walked behind me and grabbed the pocket of my jeans. "Let me just try and fit into those, and then go out in public."

"I would love to see that!" I smiled and sat on one of the stools in the kitchen. Nick followed and slid his hands around my back as I wrapped my legs around his waist. For some reason I started to laugh.

"What is going on?" He looked at me and couldn't help but start laughing too. "Why are you laughing?"

"I don't know." I leaned into his neck and continued to giggle.

"Stop! why are you laughing?!" I gently smacked his chest.

"I was just picturing you trying to get into these jeans and then going to the rink and all the boys looking at you like your crazy."

"I would never even attempt to put those on."

"Yeah but the thought of it is funny." I wrapped my arms around his neck and jumped on him.
"You are so cute!" I grabbed his cheeks really hard.

"Ah." He pulled my hands off. "You are so hyper." He laughed.

"No I'm not." I said while laughing then I pinched his butt.

"Ouch, good god." I attempted to run but he grabbed me by my waist and I screamed.

"I'm dressed up don't mess up my make-up." I turned around and kissed his neck.

"I wasn't." He smiled and pulled me closer and picked me up. "I'm afraid to touch you, I might mess something up."

"I was just kidding." I scratched his back a little bit then hopped down, Nick picked up my phone as it started to ring and handed it to me.

"Thanks.....hello?"

"Hey hunny we are downstairs, we have Josh's car." My mom sounded the happiest she has been since she got here.

"Alright on my way down." I hung up the phone and gave Nick a kiss goodbye. "Good luck tonight!" I said as I opened the door.

"Thanks, bye."

I walked downstairs and got in the back of Josh's car. I leaned up to give both my parents a kiss on the cheek.

"Heya!" I was so excited to just spend a night with them.

"Wow I must say you are dressing more and more sophisticated sweetheart."

"Thanks mom, you guys look nice too."

"I am so hungry, I am ready to just stuff my stomach full." My dad started to rub his stomach. "Riley asked me to bring him a cheese steak back too."

"Is he allowed to eat stuff like that yet?" I stared out of the window.

"I'm sure he is, if not I will just sneak it in."

"Aw aren't you a good daddy." My mom rubbed his arm.

"Yup!" I yelled from the back and smiled at him.

We pulled up to the restaurant and waited about 20 minutes for a seat, not bad for D.C. My dad made sure to tell the waitress we needed a cheese steak to go when we all put in our order. She smiled and said that was fine and left to ring in our food.

"So hun, how you feeling?" My mom put her elbows on the table.

"Pretty good, I have to go down to the precinct Tuesday to talk to the cops again, but other then that everything is fine."

"So." My dad started as he twirled his straw. "When you coming home?"

"I don't really want to talk to much about it." I hung my head.

"Have you told Nicklas yet?" My dad continued.

"No I'm still deciding what I should do."

"Kate, you came out here for a reason and now you finally got accepted to CSU are you really going to throw it away on a boy?" My mom gave me those eyes only a mother knows how to do.

"He is not just a boy mom, he really cares about me. With everything that has gone on somehow he still manages to make me smile. Maybe I could go to school here or just take online courses." It was quiet for a second as the waitress dropped off our salads.

"So what happens if he doesn't stay in D.C. what will you do then, follow him around?" My mom started to shake her head. "I think you have worked to hard and you are too young to not take advantage of this opportunity."

"Your moms right." My dad chimed in. "You have wanted to go to CSU your whole life and now you finally have the chance. If Nicklas cares that much about you he will wait for you and understand."

"I don't want to talk about this." I looked down at my salad and didn't look up. We ate most of the dinner in silence. There was some conversation here and there but not nearly as much as we usually do.

"Do you want to come back to Josh's?" My dad asked as we headed to the car.

"Yeah sure." I opened the car door. "I should probably head back to Nick's when he gets home."

"Okay." My dad smiled at me.
Once I walked into Josh's house so many bad memories came back of Brian and Justin. I haven't slept there since the incident and it was just weird to see everything again. Josh walked downstairs and gave me a hug.

"Can I talk to you for a second?" I looked at Josh, and then my parents.

"Yeah, lets talk in the kitchen." He followed me and we both sat at the kitchen table.

"I don't know what to do, I'm falling in love with Nick and I don't want to leave but I also think my parents are right. This is what I have worked so hard for and I'm torn, what do I do."

"Honestly, you have been told what to do all your life, it's about time you started making your own decisions. I think you should talk to Nick about it, but really do what you think is best for you. You deserve it."

"Yeah I wish it was that easy."

"Well sleep on it, you don't have to decide now, and I got Stepbrothers yesterday and I have been waiting for you to watch it." He got up. "Shall we have some laughs?"

"Yes we should." I smiled and walk into the living room. He popped in the DVD and I made myself comfortable on the couch.

Chapter 37

I unbuckled my seat belt and began to climb in the back of the car so Allie could sit up front. "Nick! Don't push me!" I turned and looked at him while sliding through both the front seats.

"What??? It's funny."

"I could break my neck!"

"You are exaggerating." He turned and smiled.

"Yeah right jerk!" I pinched his arm.

"Ouch! that hurts so bad." He rubbed his arm. "You should cut your nails."

"Shush Nick I'm on the phone." I laughed.

"You are so mean to me." He shook his head and turned back around.

"Hey Allie we are outside."

"Okay I'm on my way down." She hung up and I laid down in the back.

"You can't tell me your tired." Nick turned back around and gently squeezed my leg.

"Nick babe, you don't understand before I met you I used to sleep till 2 in the afternoon."

"Well, I'm glad you get up early now. If you slept till 2 I would hardly get to talk to you."

"Awww!" I sat up and kissed him on the cheek.

"I know, I know, I'm adorable." He rolled his eyes. About 2 minutes later Allie opened the door.

"Front seat." I looked at her.

"Oh okay." She shut the door and slid into the passenger seat. "Where we going?"

"Out to lunch with a bunch of animals!" I sat up.

"Hey! those are my team mates!"

"Sorry." I smiled and winked at Allie, she laughed.

"So." She did her best to turn around and look at me. "What are you doing for you birthday this weekend?"

"Well of course hanging out with you! And someone...." I coughed and pointed to Nick. "Is going on a road trip because he plays hockey or something so he won't be here."

"Don't make me feel bad." He looked at me through the rear view mirror.

"I'm not trying to, just messing with you, plus all of my brother's are here for a little bit so we will probably be going out."

"You don't think that will be weird?" Allie said while looking in the mirror checking her make-up.
"No, not really. I'm not sure if Riley will be able to come so it should be fine."

"Well Johnny is still coming, so that will be weird. If Riley is going then I probably would just stay home." I raised my eyebrow and gave her a confused look.

"Why is that weird?"

"Because I still haven't told him, and you know so it would just be weird." I sat up a little more.

"What?!!" Nick hit the brakes a little bit because I yelled so loud. "What the hell are you talking about!!"

"Kate you told me your knew who the dad was??" She turned around a little more.

"I thought it was Justin! Oh my god." I was at a loss of words. "Johnny has a Fiance! holly shit Allie! He is getting Married in 6 months! I need a minute Nick pull over." He pulled over but the car wasn't even stopped before I got out. I walked in a circle, my fingers linked together on top of my head, I kept letting out deep breaths. Nick got out of the car and walked towards me.

"Kate." He walked a little closer. "Calm down, Allie is crying just calm down."

"You don't understand Nick, this could tear my family apart, Riley is still in love with her, Johnny is getting married, Shit."

"You just need to calm down, she is really upset, you have to remember she is pregnant. You haven't even heard he side of the story yet."

"Nick think about if your brother got me pregnant. That is exactly what is going on here."

"Don't turn this around on us, I don't really want to hear that, just get in the car and lets go." He sounded aggravated.

"Are you mad at me?!" I turned around so fast.

"I just think your overreacting.""

"Overreacting!!" I screamed, maybe I was but this wasn't the time to tell me that. "Let me explain, I'm closest to Riley, when he finds out he is probably going to want to kick Johnny's ass, Johnny is going to get mad at me because I'm going to side with Riley. Johnny's Fiance is going to leave him, my mom is going to flip. Brandon will side with Johnny because they are the closest, Chris will be stuck in the middle, my dad is going to hide in a corner!" I took another deep breath.

"Okay, okay I understand, just remember she is still in the car." I took one more deep breath and Nick took my hand and led me to the car. I got in the backseat and didn't say anything. "Okay." Nick started. "I'm going to take you two back to my apartment and I will go out to lunch so you have time to talk, alone."

"Okay." Allie wiped her eyes with her sleeve, I still didn't say anything. Nick pulled up to the parking garage. We got out and I gave Nick a kiss.

"Don't flip out on her." He looked at me. "Kate?"

"I won't." I said goodbye and we walked to his apartment. I didn't say anything to her. We got inside and I sat down and put my head on the table.

"Kate I'm sorry, just hear me out." I sat up quick to come back at her but I remember what Nick said.

"Okay." I put my head back down.

"I went to a party, Johnny was there we talked for a little bit then went our separate ways. Well we were both drunk when we met up again and he started to tell me how he thinks his fiance is cheating on him with her coworker. One thing led to another, it was just a drunken mistake."

"Okay." I didn't move.

"Kate we haven't talked since, he doesn't even know, honestly I don't think he remembers that night. I have no feelings for him whatsoever.

"Okay."

"Please say something other then okay."

"I just don't know what to say, I can't be mad at you for that. I'm just thinking."

"If it means anything, if this was Riley's baby I would probably be really really happy. I still think about him all the time." I got up and gave her a hug, I felt horrible for the way I reacted and I have been around Johnny when he is drunk, he never knows what he is doing. All I was hoping for was that Riley would understand too.

"I'm sorry I flipped, but this is just, well I don't even know." I shook my head.

"It's okay, and I'm sorry." She gave me another hug. We both sat down and had some cereal and talked about it a little more. About two hours later Nick slowly opened the door and peeked his head inside.

"Is it okay for me to come in?" He smiled

"Yeah." I put my finger up to my mouth. "Be quiet though she fell asleep about thirty minutes ago." He sneaked over to me sitting on the chair and gave me a kiss on the head.

"The guys missed you at lunch, they all thought you were coming." He said in a whisper.

"Yeah tell them I'm sorry and I'm coming for sure next time." I got up and gave him a hug. "Thanks for calming me down today and I'm sorry I snapped at you, I was overreacting."

"It's fine I don't mind." I turned around as I heard a huge yawn come from Allie.

"Hey, I have been up since 5 this morning and I'm so tired do you mind if I just sleep?"

"Yeah." I walked over to help her up. "You want to sleep in our bed?"

"It doesn't matter, I'm just so tired." I walked into the bedroom and handed her a big t-shirt and some shorts, she laid down and I went back out to talk to Nick. I leaned into him and he wrapped his arms around me.

"You feel a little better about all of this?" He ran his lips from my ear down to my colar bone.

"No, but it's nothing I can control so I just have to sit back and let this take it's course."

"Well cheer up tomorrow is your birthday and I'm expecting you to be happy." I smiled and kissed him.

"I will, I promise."

"Good." He picked me up and pined me on the couch.

"Don't you dare start anything silly mister!"

"I won't!" He kissed my neck.

"Watch it! I have to see my brothers tomorrow, better not leave a mark."

"What can I do??" He stopped and looked at me.

"Anything else." I laughed.

"Okay lets see." He ran both of his hands up and down my side and my hips. "I wish I didn't have to leave this weekend." He said in the middle of kissing my stomach.

"Me too."

Chapter 36

"Yo!!" Johnny and Chris walked in, Johnny with one of his Ipod headphones in.

"Chris." I got up and gave him a big hug "How's the baby?"

"Good, Angela is here with him now she is in the waiting room, for a 3 month old baby that thing can shit."

"Aw, I want to see him." I smiled.

"Well you are his Godmother you can hold him you know." He grabbed my head and gave me a noogie.

"One thing I don't miss about home." I pulled out of his grip. "Getting picked on like there's no tomorrow." Chris laughed and sat in my chair and Johnny leaned on the wall.

"So boys." Riley started "Guess what Kate told me."

"Riley!" I shot him a look.

"What, cats out of the bag now." He rolled his eyes. "Allie came to visit Kate, and she got knocked up."

"No fucking way!" Johnny blurted out, pulling his ear phones out. "Is it yours?"

"Nope, you know I haven't seen her in forever."

"I'm betting it's Justin." I sat on the bed.

"Yeah okay Kate, He is a douche and she lives no where near him." Johnny popped one of his headphones back in.

"I'm just saying, it's possible!" I shook my head. "Where is Brandon? if he was here we have the whole crew." I smiled.

"He took the girls to the park." Chis said in a blank tone, knowing it would upset me.

"They are here?" I hung my head.

"Yeah, they look good, they have your eyes you know."

"Chris don't." Riley sat up. "Lets talk about something else."

"Yeah I second that." Johnny raised his finger while flipping through his songs.

"Well I'm going to go see Angela, I want to see the baby, see ya buds." I got up to give them hugs. "Riley, call me when you get discharged I want to take you out for food."

"Yum, I want like 4 burritos." I smiled.

"Okay we can go to Chipotle or something."

"I wanna go!!" Johnny said in a whinny tone.

"We can all go, that way I can bring Nick and you can all really meet him." I headed out to the door.

"Yeah, sounds like your feeding him to the wolves." Chris pushed his chair around.

"Not really if you guys are nice to him!" I pointed my finger at all of them with a stern look.

"Hey." Riley put his hands up. "He is cool in my book, you should be giving Johnny hell!"

"Yeah Johnny!" I turned my head to look at him.

"Give me a break, I'm not that bad!"

"Just watch your mouth." I shoved his arm.

"Okay, Okay, I will be good.."

"Good, later guys." I waved goodbye and headed to the waiting room to see Angela feeding Christopher.

"Hey hunny!" She leaned up and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"Oh my god, he is gorgeous."

"Oh that's right, you haven't seen him yet. Want to feed him?" I shook my head.

"Absolutely." I sat next to her as she handed him to me.

"So, how do you like it out here?" She rubbed my shoulder. "Heard you met a boy."

"Yeah it's nice, but I miss home a lot, mostly because of this, missing being at the hospital, seeing your nephew born. It really sucks."

"Kate it's okay, I barely even remember giving birth, 11 pounds of baby coming out a very small hole. I couldn't tell you who was in the delivery room or who the doctor was." I laughed.

"Yeah true, I know how you feel. Looks like he is falling asleep here." I handed him back to her. "So do you call him Chris, or Christopher?"

"No we call him James, since it's his middle name and it would get confusing when he is older, so you heading out of here?"

"Yeah." I leaned in to hug her. "I got to pick my guy up from practice."

"Okay Hun, you are coming home for the Baptism right?"

"Yup, I have my plane ticket already, Me and Josh are coming."

"Alright well I'm leaving tonight so I will see you then." She gave me another kiss on the cheek.

"Okay, bye." I walked out of the hospital to the car. I was a little more successful driving Nicks car, I didn't stall once. I got to the rink but they were still practicing so I decided to try and call Allie again. I got her voicemail and left a message.

"Allie, I'm sorry for what I did, it wasn't right but I'm worried about you and want to make sure you are okay. I'm not going to ask you why you lied, and I'm not going to judge you. I have been in a situation like yours. Please just call me back." I put my phone in my pocket and waited for Nick to finish up. I walked outside and leaned on Nicks car. Nylander walked up and gave me a hug.

"Where have you been stranger, you don't come out to lunch with us anymore."

"Yeah just dealing with some family stuff, how are the kids?"

"Good, good, you should come out to lunch with us today." I smiled as I saw Nick walk out of the doors.

"Yeah I should, I don't have to work today, I miss the guys."

"Okay it's a deal, we will see you there?"

"Yup, see ya." I popped the trunk for Nick and got into the passenger seat, he got into the driver seat and leaned over and kissed me. "Good practice?"

"Yup, good hospital visit?"

"Yup." I smiled. "I saw my Nephew for the first time."

"Oh really."

"Hold on." I cut Nick off and picked up my phone. "Allie! I'm sorry."

"It's okay.... I kind of understand where you are coming from."

"Allie I think I know why you don't want to tell me who the dad is, I know who it is and I understand."

"Really, you know who it is?"

"Yeah, I can tell."

"The thing is I didn't want to tell anyone because of what my family would say and what your family would say. This could tear everything apart."

"His name starts with a J doesn't it." I knew it was Justin but I didn't want to say it in front of Nick. Justin liked Allie just as much as me and she had told me he had been bothering her a couple months ago, I felt her pain.

"Yeah." She started to cry. "It's just hard."

"Allie don't cry, we are coming to get you I understand everything your going though."

"Okay, I'm just going to shower really quick."

"That's fine, we will be there in about 20 minutes." I hung up the phone and looked at Nick.

"Do you mind if she comes to lunch?"

"No not at all, is she okay?"

"Yeah, she just needs to get out." I opened Nicks glove box to put a paper from the Hospital in there.

"Don't open that!" Nick shouted and scared me so much I slammed it shut, but I did see a glimpse of a black ring box.

"Okay wow sorry." I looked at him.

"Did you see anything?" He sighed.

"No, I shut it too quick you scared me, what is in there?" I asked just to see if he would tell me.

"Nothing." He linked his fingers in mine and turned up the radio.

Chapter 35

I squinted my eyes as my phone laid on the table, vibrating. I sat up squishing Nick making him grunt. I rubbed my neck from the pain of the way we fell asleep.

"Hello?" I spoke in a barely understandable voice while Nick pushed my legs off of him and walked into the bathroom.

"Good morning Hun!" Allie was always so cheerful in the morning, I never understood how she could do it.

"Morning." I walked to the kitchen and chugged some of my soy milk and grabbed a box of cereal.

"So what we doing today?"

"Dunno." I poured a bowl of fruit loops. "I have to stop by the hospital today."

"Oh right."

"You should come." Nick came up behind me and gave me a kiss on the cheek and proceeded to take my bowl of cereal.

"Hey!" I grabbed it. "It's got soy milk in it you don't want that." He laughed and lazily walked over the the fridge. "Sorry Allie, but anyway you should come and see him."

"No, I don't think that's a good idea."

"Why not, you don't have to tell him anything." I sat in the dining room.

"Um hold on Kate let me call you back, I got to go real quick."

"Uh okay but.." Before I could finish she hung up the phone. "God she is acting weird."

"Shit!!" I turned my head quick and saw Nick shaking his hand.

"What did you do?" I smiled.

"I burnt my hand and my toaster strudel!"

"I will make you pancakes!" I walked over and pulled the instant pancake box out of the cabinet.

"Okay." He leaned in to kiss me but I pulled away. "Wow, grump."

"I haven't brushed my teeth, it's so gross!"

"Go brush your teeth then." He pushed me towards the bathroom and smacked my butt.

"You're a dick!" I stuck my tongue out as I closed the bathroom door.

"I thought I was cute and adorable!" He yelled.

"You are." I walked out of the bathroom with my toothbrush in my mouth. "And a dick." He walked over and started to tickle me.

"Stop Nick! I'm gonna choke!" He stopped and I wiped tooth paste on his face.

"Oh no you didn't." He wiped it off and looked at me, I swiped his hand away and put my leg up as he tried to go for me.

"Wait Nick, wait." I smiled. "Let me finish brushing my teeth and then you can do whatever you want." He looked at his watch.

"You got 2 minutes."

"Ahh!" I screamed and ran into the bathroom. I finished up and walked out, Nick was standing right outside the door waiting for me.

"Okay hold on." I laughed.

"Nope your time is up." He came towards me but I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him.

"Don't tickle me." I smiled.

"This is your one get out of jail free card." I walked in front of him to the kitchen as he grabbed my hips and slugged behind me. I quickly whipped up some pancakes for him and watched as he scarfed them down like he has not eaten in a week.

"Did you even taste them babe?"

"Yeah." He walked into the kitchen with a mouth full of pancakes and put his plate in the sink then kissed my cheek again. "They were good." He engulfed me into his arms and gave me a huge hug.

"Aw what was that for?"

"Just cause I love you, when do you have to leave?"

"I'm going to get changed then head over."

"Okay, tell him I said hey."

"I will." I walked into the bedroom and threw on a pair of jeans and Nick's abercrombie hoodie.

"Bye." I leaned in to kiss him.

"Bye, and you need to get your own clothes."

"Yours are so comfy though!"

"Fine, don't get it dirty."

"I won't, have fun at practice." I gave him another kiss.

"I will." He walked me to the door.

"Bye again." I smiled and hugged him.

"Bye, be safe."

I walked to Nick's car and jumped in. He had taught me how to drive stick but I was still a little bad at it. I got to the hospital only stalling once and walked up to the counter to get my visitor pass. I got to go right in to Riley's room since my family went back to Josh's to sleep.

"Hey kiddo." Riley smiled. He was sitting up in his bed watching TV and eating breakfast.

"Hey!" I gave him a hug. "How you feeling?"

"Pretty good, I didn't get much sleep but what do you expect, it's a hospital."

"Yeah that's true, you should have let me bring you breakfast, that looks like shit."

"Ah it's alright." He looked at his plate. "How did she look?"

"Who?" I sat down in the chair.

"Allie." I could tell by the look in his face that he has missed her.

"Good, I feel like I need to tell you something though." I knew that I shouldn't but Riley was my brother, He has always been there for me through thick and thin. He has always been honest with me and told me everything. All that was running through my mind was blood is thicker than water. He needed to know, he had a right to know.

"What?" He flipped through the channels.

"Well I haven't seen Allie since I moved out here, and well she looked very different."

"Yeah, how so?" He sat up a little more, getting very interested in the conversation.

"I don't know if I should tell you. It's probably not my place."

"I'm not going to force you, tell me what you want." Now I felt bad.

"She was pregnant." I looked down.

"Are you serious." He hung his head in his hands.

"Riley don't." I slid my chair over to him and rubbed his shoulder. "You're going to be a great dad."

"What?!" He picked his head up so quick.

"Well you have to know it's yours." I looked at him with a confused face.

"Kate, that's not possible. I have not seen her in over a year. After she dumped me she moved about 2 hours away and hasn't spoken to me."

"What?" I shook my head, my mouth wide open. "Why would she lie to me."

"I don't know, but to lie about something like that is a little fucked up, especially since you are my sister."

"Well wait a second Riley we don't know what happen we can't judge her. What if something bad happened and she was to embarrassed to tell me."

"I don't know, your phone is lighting up." He pointed to my pocket. I quickly opened it.

"Sorry bout that, I needed to talk to someone back home." She spoke with a soft voice. I walked out of the room.

"Allie why did you lie to me?"

"What are you talking about?"

"About Riley, I'm sorry but I had to tell him, he is my brother. Why did you lie?"

"You told him!" Her voice raised. "I can't talk about this!" She hung up the phone. I tried to call her back right away but she hit the ignore button. I felt terrible and just wanted to help her. Maybe she was going through something similar to what I went through and I just made it worse.

"That was a mistake." I sat back down in the chair.

"Something is going on with her, she needs some help." Riley leaned back on his bed.

"That's all I want to do, I want to help her. I'm a horrible person for doing that."

"No you aren't, just give her some time to blow off some steam and call her back."

"Good plan."

"Good, now want some eggs?" He smiled.

"No thank you." I smiled back.

Chapter 34

"Allie! I can't believe it!" I gave her a huge hug "Oh my god you're pregnant." I looked down to see her very pregnant belly.

"Yeah." She smiled "A little over five months now."

"Holy shit, you were not pregnant when I left, I have been here for three months." She laughed and sat down. We could easily talk since we were so early so no one was really in the arena yet.

"Yeah I was, but I was only two months so yeah, couldn't really tell." I grabbed her hand and looked at her. Me and Allie were inseparable back in Denver. It was always me, Brian, Allie, and Riley. We did everything together. Riley and Allie had dated for about two years and broke up. I always wanted them to stay together but you can't force feelings. They still talk but they aren't as close as they were before. I still hope that they would get back together.

"Why didn't you tell me! who is the father?!" I felt like I was in my senior year of high school again. Sitting with her made me miss Denver so much.

"Um, I don't know. When I first found out I was wondering if I should have an abortion, so I didn't tell anyone. I just needed time to be comfortable with this to tell people. The father......well It's complicated."

"Allie your my best friend you can tell me anything." I looked at her but she looked away. "It's not Riley......Is it?!"

"See the thing is, I haven't told anyone who the father is, not even him so I'm not to comfortable with spilling the beans quite yet." She looked back up and I could tell.

"Sweetheart I can read you like a book, I won't tell him but I think you should."

"I'm just nervous, I found out what happened and I don't want to drop this bomb on him." Just as she said that her phone started to ring. She pulled it out of her pocket and quickly hit the ignore button.

"Who was that?" I said being very curious.

"No one, some guy I met in a bar a while ago. I gave him my number and he just recently started calling me, I try to never answer."

"Is he weird?"

"I just don't want to start anything until I get this figured out." She pointed to her belly.

"That's a good idea." I looked over at her again and she looked a little down. "Why don't we get off this subject and enjoy ourselves."

"Okay deal, so tell me a little bit about your new boy, he was very nice on the phone."

"Okay so like, he is so sexy and well like he is amazing." I bobbed my head back and forth.

"What was that!" she laughed.

"I apologize, I haven't had girl talk in so long, it had to come out before I exploded."

"Well I hope that is all you had left because that was bad."

"Okay." I laughed. "I promise no more."

"Well." She said in a chipper voice. "What's he like!"

"Different, I mean he is not my type at all. I like the bad boys, tattooed up, piercings, rockers, assholes, but he is nothing like that and I think that's why we get along so well. He is just showing me a whole different side of guys and I love it."

"And the sex?"

"Allie!" I said in a shocked voice. "none of your business! How do you know we have even done anything."

"Please girl! You spend the night over at a blond swedes house! Something is bound to happen."

"Whatever! new subject! Have you been dating?"

"Right." She said sarcastically. "I seduce them with my belly, they find that so hot."

"Oh right, I'm sure some guy has a pregnant girl fetish though." I tried to lift her spirits.

"Yeah! freaks!" She laughed.

"Okay maybe your right, but once you have the baby you will be able to date sooner or later."

"Yeah I'm hoping." She rolled her eyes.
We kept the conversation up until the boys came out to start the game. Allie is a huge hockey fan so she was up and down. I kept pulling her down and telling her she shouldn't be jumping up and down. She told me she was fine, but I kept doing it anyway. We had an amazing time, and I had missed her so much. Once the game was over I helped walk her to Nick's car. We sat in there and chit chatted some more until a knock came on the window that almost made me pee my pants.

"Nick!" I opened the door and yelled. "She is pregnant! you could have made her just have her baby!"

"Oh, sorry I didn't know." He was so sincere.

"It's fine." Allie laughed. "It's not like I'm eight months."

"So." Nick slid into the car. "Were do you ladies want to go?"

"Food!" I said rubbing my stomach.

"I would love to go but I'm going to have to take a rain check, I'm so tired." Allie said while putting her hand over her yawn.

"Oh okay, are you staying with us?" I looked at her.

"No, Nick set me up in a hotel."

"Well you can stay with us, it's fine." I would be more comfortable if she came with us.

"No way, I don't want to intrude." I rolled my eyes at her comment but before I could answer Nick turned around.

"It's fine you can stay with us, really."

"No no, I have all my stuff at the hotel anyway, really I will be fine. I will call you in the morning."

"Alright." I smiled. "How did you get here?"

"I took a cab, I can take another one, I don't want to hold you up." Nick spoke up again.

"That's crazy, we will take you. It's not out of our way."

"Yeah what he said!" I laughed. "You are no burden to us." She laughed and agreed and we drove her to her hotel. She gave me and Nick a hug and said goodbye and headed inside.

"Thank you for this." I gave Nick a kiss on the cheek. "I have missed her so much."

"It's no problem, I like meeting people that know you. She is very nice."

"Yeah she is, she was acting kind of funny though."

"How so?" He parked the car and we headed up to the apartment.

"I don't know, she would jump at the chance to stay with us, she was a little distant. It was just not like her. She is usually very loud and outgoing."

"Maybe she is just dealing with a lot with the pregnancy and stuff." He kicked off his shoes and immediately when to the refrigerator.

"Yeah you're probably right." I walked to his room and threw on one of my tank tops and a pair of his boxers. I walked out to the couch and turned the TV on.

"Good god." He handed me a sandwich

"Oh thanks! And what was the good god for?" I took a bite.

"I'm going to have to buy some more boxers, that's all your wear around here." He sat down next to me with his sandwich and a bag of chips.

"They are comfy." He opened the bag of chips." Ohhhhhh." I leaned on him. "Give me some." He leaned the bag towards me and I took a hand full.

"I must admit though you look cute in those." He kissed me on the forehead.

"Cute!" I imitated his voice. "I wanna be sexy!"

"You are done." He threw his sandwich down and picked me up.

"Put me down you ass!" I grabbed my sandwich before he started to walk with me. "I'm so hungry!" He hoisted me up some more on his shoulder which made me drop my sandwich. "Dammit!"

"Calm down I will make you another one." He threw me on the bed.

"You better!" He leaned down and started to kiss me. "Nope, can't happen." I sat up.

"What?" He stood up

"This, we have nothing here." I got up and walked into the kitchen to get some more food.

"What don't we have?" Nick followed

"Um protection, duh! and I'm not having another scare."

"Oh I forgot." He grabbed the chips and started to munch.

"Yeah cause you never buy them because you think someone will recognize you!"

"Oh well, lets just watch a movie." He smiled.

"Nick." I walked over and kissed him. "You are a girls dream."

"Yeah." He pumped up his chest. "I already know I'm God's gift to women."

"Get over yourself." I smacked his chest.

"You love me."

"Yeah, I do."

We both laid on the couch and watched Anchorman. I quickly fell asleep but woke up every once in a while to his quiet laughter.

Chapter 33

I stood next to him in the elevator while we headed to the garage to go to the game. He stood still and didn't say a word. I leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek but he didn't move.

"Okay." I folded my arms. "Why are you mad at me?"

"I'm not mad at you." He said abruptly stepping quickly out of the elevator and unlocking his car door. I hoped in the passenger seat and turned to look at him.

"Yes you are." He rolled his eyes and began to drive to the exit.

"Why don't you want to move in? I don't understand, you seem happy, I'm happy. I'm sorry it just doesn't make sense to me." I turned back to face the front and put my foot up on the seat resting my chin on my knee.

"I don't know."

"Yes you do." He said loudly. "You know, you just won't tell me, you never tell me anything."

"Why do we always fight now?"

"I'm not trying to fight with you, you are just not open with me. Tell me honestly how your feeling for once."

"I'm scared, happy now?" I looked down.

"What are you scared of?" He turned and looked at me with a confused face.

"Nick, seriously, like I said before you're a big hockey player, you travel all the time to different places, you're young. Honestly you can find a better girl in a heartbeat and I find myself counting down the days until my heart gets broken."

"That's not true."

"From what I see girls throw themselves at you."

"So what, that doesn't mean I want them. Kate I'm perfectly happy and set, I wouldn't have stuck around this long if I didn't love you." He sighed. "And you give me hell for not trusting you?"

"I trust you!" I said abruptly "I just don't think your ready for a relationship like this."

"And you are?"

"What do I have to lose?" I flipped open my phone and texted Josh. "All I ever had was Brian, I don't have guys gushing over me."

"Are you serious!? Every time I go out with you guys stare at you all the time! It drives me crazy."

"I never notice that."

"Because your so oblivious, not saying that to be mean but that's what I love about you. When your with me you only look at me it's like no one else is around us, I give you that same respect. I don't care about those girls that know nothing about me and only want to be with me because of what I do. I want you, that's it." I tried to hold back my smile. I stuck out my pinkie.

"Pinkie swear." I smirked.

"Pinkie swear." He pulled me in and kissed me.

"Nick!" I pushed him off of me. "Road hun!" He swerved a little and started to laugh. "Not funny! be careful!"

"Sorry." He smiled.

"Yeah just don't let it happen again." I linked my arm in his.
We pulled up to the arena and Nick walked to the back of his car to get his hockey bag. As he shut the trunk someone came swerving into the parking lot music so loud.

"Slow down Green! your gonna run someone over." I shouted over to him.

"Whatever." He slowly walked over. "You Americans just don't know how to drive." He laughed and leaned over to give Nick a high five.

"Sweetheart at least I can control my car when I'm speeding, and I don't make up the size for certain things by getting a big car" Nick popped out from behind me.

"Dayyuumm!"

"Wanna race! I will show you what's up!"

"Get outta here!" I smiled.

"Give me a hug." He always had the biggest bear hugs. "Just don't make me hate you."

"I don't think you could ever hate me."

"Just watch you hands bud." Nick started to walk to the doors and grabbed my waist and Mike followed.

"Hey." He put his hands up. "I got my own chick, at least she knows her place."

"I will slap you!" I turned and smiled.

"I'm ready." He put his hand up.

"Maybe not Bruce would kill me."

"It wouldn't be the first time I have been slapped." Mike chuckled.

"Yeah I saw that!" Nick put up his finger.

"I can believe that."

"It wasn't my fault." Mike said in a whinny voice.

"I'm sure." I said sarcastically.
We walked up to the dressing room and Nick threw his back in the door way.

"I guess I got to go to my seat now." I smiled and hugged him.

"Oh god I got to get in there before this shit starts." He walked into the dressing room.

"Shut up your just jealous!" I yelled.

"Hey." Nick kissed me. "When you get out there I have a surprise for you."

"Yeah Riley told me." I covered my mouth forgetting Riley told me not to say anything.

"What!"

"He didn't tell me what it was but he only told me so he could get me to leave."

"Alright good, but anyway enjoy yourself, and I will meet you outside." He handed me his car keys. "You can just wait for me in there or listen to music, whatever." He gently grabbed my neck and kissed me.

"Bye." I kissed him back "Score me a goal!"

"I will try." He smiled and walked into the dressing room.
I made my way to my seat and headed down the steps.

"Kate!" I looked to see someone waving at me.

"Oh my God!! No way!!" I rushed down the steps.
