Chaper 32

We drove to his place in silence. All of the feelings that I should have been feeling earlier all of a sudden just smacked me right across the face.

"Do you need to stop home?" Nick looked over at me as he parked the car.

"No." I said in an annoyed tone. "I think I have all I need here." I got out of the car and did not wait for him to get out. I walked over to the elevator and leaned on the wall.

"Maybe I should take you back." He stood next to me and waited for the doors to open.

"I'm fine." I leaned into him and he wrapped his arms around me. "I'm sorry I'm being bitchy, thanks for coming."

"It's okay, you are going through a lot. I understand." I shook my head.

"No it's not, I don't want to be that girlfriend that is always crabby." He gently wrapped his hands around my waist.

"Kate." He kissed me. "It's okay." He pulled me into the elevator.

"Okay, but I'm sorry anyway." I smiled at him.

"Whatever.... I don't except your apology." He didn't smile or look at me.

"Nick? Are you serious?!"

"You're right. You are being really bitchy." Finally he laughed after trying to hold it in.

"Oh my god." I shouted. "You are so mean!" I playfully shoved him.

"All I was looking for was that right there." He pointed to my face.

"What?" I wiped my cheeks with my sleeve thinking I had something on them.

"That smile, I haven't seen you smile this whole day." I smiled again and leaned into him.

"Awwwwwwwww!" I kissed him. "You are so friggin cute!"

"Alright I am never saying anything like that again. I'm not cute." I grabbed his shirt to pull him down to me and kissed his neck.

"Get over it, you're cute." He smiled as the doors opened and grabbed my hand as we walked to his apartment.
When we got inside I hopped in the shower real quick then got changed. I was dying to know what Nick was up to and what his surprise was but I didn't say anything. I curled up next to him on the couch and rested my head down. He kissed my forehead and ran his fingers through my hair.

"What time do we have to leave?" I spoke softly into his chest.

"Um." He turned to look at the clock shifting me into a very uncomfortable position. "Like and hour." I readjusted and looked at my phone.

"I was hoping Riley called."

"Why don't you just call him?" He ran his fingers up and down my neck.

"I don't know." I sat up. "I shouldn't have left, was that bad of me? I'm a horrible sister! God why can't anything go right."

"Hey, hey, hey breath girl." Nick got up and got me a glass of water. "Josh asked me if I would take you with me and I'm sure Riley is okay."

"Why would he ask you to take me." I put the water on the table and looked at Nick. "I mean I should be there, Jesus I can't even think straight." I got up and walked to the cabinet and took some Motrin. Nick walked up behind me and pulled me into a hug.

"You can't freak out if I tell you why they wanted you to leave." He looked down at me.

"Oh what the fuck is going on now!" I buried my head into my hands. "I can't deal with this anymore."

"Kate." He pulled my head up. "It's nothing bad its just that Riley still needs to talk to the police some more and he agreed to have Brian there too, so they both can talk to the cops."

"Why won't anyone ever tell me what's going on? Why wouldn't they tell me that."

"It's just to keep you safe." I rolled my eyes and walked into the bedroom and laid down. I pulled the covers over my head, but of course Nick followed and sat down next to me.

"Talk to me." He pulled the covers off of me.

"I'm just tired of never getting the truth." I pulled them back over me.

"I am telling you the truth." Instead of pulling the covers back off of me he slid under and met me face to face.

"Stop." I smiled. "Get out of here."

"Why?" He poked the side of my stomach.

"Ouch! That hurt." I pushed him a little too hard and he rolled off the bed taking me with him because of the covers.

"Wow! where did that come from?" He picked me up and threw me back on the bed.

"I'm not that weak!" I put my feet up trying to stop him from climbing on top of me.

"Come here!" He grabbed my foot and pushed it down and laid on me. "I will tickle you!"

"No! No! okay I forfeit!" I picked up the corner of the sheet and waived it as a white flag. He stood back up but I pulled his arm.

"Where you going?" I smiled.

"I don't know I get the feeling that you don't like me today." He laid next to me.

"Your right." I rolled on top of him. "I love you." He smiled and put his hands on both sides of my neck gently rubbing my cheeks with his thumbs and kissed me. He stopped and looked at me.

"I got an idea." He got up and walked into the living room. I followed slowly behind while he searched through a drawer in the kitchen.

"Here." He handed me a key. "So you can just come over whenever you want or stay over night, I mean you can bring some more stuff here too, only if you want." I looked down at the key then looked at him.

"Are you asking me to move in?"

"Not necessarily, well if that's what you want." He fiddled with his finger. "No not what you want, I meant what I want, yes I want you to move in." He noticed that I was thinking hard about it. "Just think about it, you don't have to tell me now, but keep the key."

"Okay." I walked over to my purse and put the key on my keyring. I was shocked and had to take a minute to let it sink in that he asked me to move in with him. "Really?" I turned and looked at him.

"Yeah, but if you don't want to it's okay."

"No I want to, it's just I think you might be making a mistake." He tilted his head and raised his eyebrow.

"I think I know what I'm asking you." He walked over to me and kissed me. "Why would you think that."

"Well first we are both young, and you are professional hockey player, you travel everywhere." I felt myself digging this hole deeper. "I just don't see you settling down this soon."

"Kate you mean the world to me, I don't want anyone else." He shook his head. "What do you want?"

"All I'm saying is think about this, and I will too. Can we talk about something else?"

"Yeah." He walked passed me and sat on the couch, He let out a sigh and turned the TV on.
