Chapter 20

"Come here." Nick said stopping on the side walk. I continued to walk. "Kate please come here for a second." He caught up behind me and grabbed my arm and pulled me into his arms. I buried my head into his chest.

"He is never going to stop. It's my fault for bringing you and Josh into this. When I left Denver I should have stopped contact with him, I'm so sorry."

"Don't say shit like this. I don't care that you came with this baggage, I love you for the person you are no matter whats going on." He pushed my hair back with both of his hands and rested his forehead on mine. "I'm not going to let this guy ruin anything. Tell me what happened."
I turned around as he grabbed his bag and took my hand.

"He ransacked Josh's house and the rental car he got me, so I called him because he has never done this to me. I told him to leave Josh alone but he told me not to worry about Josh and something like Karma's a bitch." Right then my phone started to ring.

"Hi mom."

"Kate what's going on, are you okay, are you hurt? Where is Brian I will kill him! Are you safe?!" She was going a mile a minute.

"Mom calm down, everything is okay. I'm in LA right now with Nick. I'm going back to Arlington to get a restraining order."

"Okay sweetheart. I'm just worried." He voice started to crack

"Mom please don't cry." Nick took my phone, once again.

"Mind?"

"I don't think I have a choice."

"Hi Mrs. Lisa, it's Nick." He had a very nice tone.

"Hi hunny, how are you?" He continued walking and smiling.

"Pretty good, just found out myself what happened with Brian, I just want to let you know I'm not going to let anything happen to Kate, and neither is Josh."

"Thank you. It's just I have never trusted that boy. He was never nice to her. Actually I very much dislike his whole family, they have really caused her some trouble."

"I completely agree, I just want to put you at ease knowing that she is safe and we are going to keep him away from her."

"You are such a sweetheart it's a wonder why Kate likes you so much. She always went for the assholes. My family is looking forward to meeting you."

"Family?"

"Of course all my sons want to meet you. They are huge hockey fans."

"Wow hopefully I won't get beaten up to bad."

"Oh I'm sure they will go easy on you." Nick laughed.

"Good, well I'm going to hand you back to Kate now, can't wait to meet you."

"You too sweetheart." Nick handed me the phone. I had a very surprised smile on my face.

"You okay now mom?"

"Yeah, you found a good one Kate. Hold on to him!" I laughed

"I'll think about it." I looked over at Nick.

"Bye darling, I love you."

"Bye mom, love ya too." I hung up the phone and looked at Nick.

"What?" He smiled

"It's just none of the guys I ever dated talk to my mom like that. She means the world to me and that was just really nice what you did, really nice."

"Well from the looks of it you dated guys that were not brought up right." He pulled me in by my hips.

"Yeah you can say that again."

"Well from the looks of it you dated...." I put my hand over his mouth.

"Shush." I laughed

"Did you just shush me woman?!" He dropped his bag and pinned me against a building wall.

"Yeah I did, what are you gonna do about it hotshot!" He kissed me, and started to tickle me.

"Nick donnnn'tttt I hate it!!!!!!! stop it." I was so jumpy when it came to people tickling me. "Oh my god I'm going to pee!!!! I will pee all over you if you don't stop. AHHH stopppp!!" He didn't stop

"Only if you say Boys rule and girls drool."

"Never!!!" he kept going "Okay, okay, okkkaaayyyy!!! I will say it if you sttoopp I can't, stop! I can't say it when your doing that!" He stopped and I took off down the side walk. He picked up his bag and ran after me. I hid behind a corner and jumped on his back when he passed me.

"Fuck! you scared the shit out of me."

"Truce!" I put my hand out and he shook it.

"Truce, you are the jumpiest person I have ever met." He said catching his breath.

"I can't help it I'm so ticklish." I kissed him and bit his lip gently and pulled it out.

"Don't do that."

"Why you don't like it?"

"I do, it's just it well, don't do it unless we are alone, in a room." He winked

"Shut up, I do what I want!" I was walking backwards and did it again, then I slowly kissed his neck.

"Seriously?!" He lifted me up over his shoulder and walked into the hotel.

"Nick don't! people are staring"

"Let them stare." He finally put me down in the elevator and pushed me up against the wall. We started to make out right in the elevator.

"When do you have to leave for your game." I said in mid kiss.

"Not anytime soon."
